This is a blog all about things we all knew and loved from the 90's and 2000's! It's always fun to take a walk down memory lane and maybe even rediscovering some things that we might have forgotten about! I loved growing up in the era where the Internet made noise and the phone was every web surfer's enemy. "Just let me browse Netscape, damnit!" Here are a few Internet jewels that were basically amazing back then.
1) Expage. And cloud wallpaper in general. Gotta love the high tech gifs.
2) "Dolls." These creepy little things were so popular.
3) Livejournal and Xanga. Both websites are still around, but I think it's safe to say that we all miss Frank.
4) Napster and Kazaa! The glory days of illegally downloading music from either the grunge or boyband variety. This process could take hours or days to complete depending on how many songs one is trying to download at the same time. Praying to the Netscape gods that the file contains the full song.
5) AIM. Hours upon hours of typing and perfecting your profile. This is before we had Facebook to spend hours upon hours doing nothing on. Nobody can deny messing around with Smarterchild's patience...
I guess we should lump Buddy icons into this as well. I think we all remember a site called Iconator. "My icon has a deeper quote than yours."
6) Cursor trails. Just in case you can't keep track of where you are scrolling, these make it infinitely more confusing.
Honestly, the list can go on and on. That's why this is such a great topic to blog about. Much more to come later, from gelpens to pogs!
